RE: recommended 24' fifth wheel

The Rockwood/Flagstaff lines by Forest River have at least 2 "24" model numbers. Forest River These are actually 26' long Believe they also make a "26" model Havent had a bit of problems w/ the 2 Rockwoods I've owned. Both used for several months at a time, as we're AZ snowbirds JMHO

RE: Oil expected to hit $45 in 09

I agree that prices may fall..some ($60-70 range) But @ $45/barrel, the Arabs would be giving it away (least to thier mindset) Iraq's govt said a week or so ago, that MINIMUM price for thier oil should be $100/barrel Arab states will cut production to keep price in range they want So my vote is for...Never Going To Happen! JMHO

RE: Trouble with Ground Fault

Check ALL the sockets that are part of the ground fault protected line Usually 1 GF feeds several more outlets Discovered when replacing the GF (would not reset)in bathroom couple weeks back that the factory had installed the GF with the 'clamp' part of the socket holding the insulation, not the copper wire (did that on hot, neutral & ground wires) Hot & neutral both showed signs of arcing on the wires. Will check every socket this coming Spring JMHO

RE: Denali Trave Trailer

Unfortunately, Denali's are built by Thor/Dutchman. Not the greatest in my opinion. On out permanent site Denali, we've had the water heater replaced under warranty.(now wont goto electric off monitor panel..must be plugged in maually) The awning was never installed properly & it binds on the back support arm The Stereo has been replaced 2x (beware of the COBY brand..Get RCA if at all possible) Discovered when closing this year that the wiring in the bathroom AC socket was clamped down on the insulation, not the wire. Going to check all sockets next spring The mountings on bedroom slide have come loose & slide doesnt close properly. It's only run out in Spring & closed in Fall(not a lot of useage) This is on a 2007. Lots of 'little things'... some safety issues (like the wiring) Just seems like really poor QC compared to my Rockwood road used 5th that has had Zero problems & only a 1 plumbing error that I corrected in 5 mins JMHO

RE: dish compatibility

I'm using a DirecTV dish w/ my DISH reciever. Only get 1 sat, but then on the 'basic' package I have, all the shows I want to watch are one 1 sat (119) I prefer Dish because of pricing I had Direct & when my bank messed up sending 1 payment in 7 yrs, they sent a notice of intended disconnect (payment arrived day b4 thier mailing, but was 3 days late by the 'due by' date on the bill) I dont like Direct sending me mailings 3-4x a mo telling me what a great & CHEAP service they are OH..did I mention I like DISH better!!! LOL JMHO

RE: Cable Fuzzy and channels not coming in?

If you get to checking the wiring, check continuity on both the inner cable & the outer braid. Mine came from the factory with several 'push-on' F connceotrs that were not making contact with the outer briad part. Fixed & cable signals improved 110% JMHO

RE: used pullrite superglide hitches

PullRite has recommended for past few years to use Slip Plate to lube the main rails. It'll look like a flat grey paint (it's paint w/ graphite). So dont panic if there's no grease on the rail, but grey paint instead JMHO

RE: ON THE GO WATER SOFTENER...Questions

I would think all the info is on the manufactures web site. As last resort you could also email them with you questions. Since you didnt give any 'make or model' no one can answer with anything other than some sort of 'guess-timate' My 'water stick' takes abt 1/2g brine to regen & abt 2g to flush JMHO

RE: Harbor Frieght generator

Most of the stuff from HF is made in China. Not saying that's a bad thing There was a HUGE tread here abt 12-18 mo ago regarding Chinese generators(do a search) The consenus was...they're noisier than Honda/Yahmaha...most felt they we good value for boondocking or occansional use HF also offers a fairly inexpensive warranty policy you might consider I have a Chinese genset I got off Ebay. It's held up very well for the 5-6x I've used it (maybe 20 hrs) for remote site power JMHO

RE: No Picture with Cable

Buddy's trailer came from the factory w/ EVERY one of his TV F connectors messed up. Guy @ factory had used channel locks to crimp on the F connectors & shorted the ground braid to the center conducter...so no picture of any sort anyplace in trailer My trailer came w/ 2 'open' F conncetors on the braid side & bad 3way splitter. Really screwed up park cable on lower channels. Moral of the story...check EVERY connction when you troubleshoot. Just because you find 1-2 problems doesnt mean there arent 5-6 more things still wrong with the wiring JMHO

RE: Furnace Air filter?

To the best of my knowledge, there is no air filter on any RV furnace. The ones I've seen dump air directly from the blower area into the ducts. Since they are a small box in a space that's just barely big enought to hold the furnace, I doubt there's an easy way to add a filter Pretty much same goes for the A/C. As to your allergies, why dont you consider something like an Electronic Air Purifier. A really good one will be expensive, but still probaly less than the cost of trying to add a fiberglass filter to furnace or A/C JMHO

RE: 5th whell hitch...which one??

Another vote for the SuperGlide Look at it this way. Your pulling 30+ ft of trailer behind you. 5ths turn slightly different that a normal trailer (inside turn off-tracking). So you going to be paying a lot more attention to where the BACK of the TH is, not to how close the FRONT is to the cab Then call a local body shop or auto glass place. Ask for a 'ball park' figure to repair a dented C pillar or the back window on you truck Figure that when you compare the cost of slide/no slide hitch. As someone once mentioned on these forums.... It's not IF you'll crunch the cab, it's WHEN (if your not using an auto-slider) JMHO

RE: Direct TV - Weather Channel: New Feature?

Same 'feature' is also available on DISH Shows up as a stylized "!" when available Gives info based on current ZIP code, but also allows for other cities in the 'Favorites' JMHO

RE: No Picture with Cable

As tom_kat mentioned, most TVs or radio/tuner combos require you to get into the Menu & change from AIR to CABLE, since the frequncies for TV & Cable are different This drove me nuts when I 1st tried out our new rig. Thought the TV tuner was being used when the park cable actually went thru the 'tuner' in my Concertone radio/dvd player & TV was being used only as a monitor JMHO

RE: If GM buys Chrysler, plan is to shut it down?

Capt I'm really doubtful abt all these 'insider' reports with GM & Chrysler GM has been laying off folks. GM is burning thru cash like crazy If they buy Chrysler, they'll have additional facilities & labor force. To shut them down & get rid of the Union people will cost them more $$$ than they'll get from Chrysler's cash reserves Not saying it wont happen, but even to my 'non-business mentality', it just doesnt make sense. At least not for next several years until economy starts to rebound JMHO

RE: Blood Pressure Monitors

Mine is generally within abt 10-15 points of the reading in the doctors office, if the nurse is any good I've had mine off as much as 40-50 pts when some nurse w/o much experience takes my BP As to the change test-retest, if the cuff is moved at all, that can change one BP reading or the other by 5-10 pts on mine JMHO

RE: which 5th wheel hitch

My dealer originally looked at the Hijacker when we shopped last year Think there was some problem w/ dealer trying to order just one, so ended up w/ PullRite SuperGlide instead. Sorry I cant remember all the details. Do remember the dealer was initially very impressed, until problem came along. JMHO

RE: Popup with three king beds?

WOW...that would be one very large PUP! Not saying that no one every made something like that, but I've never seen one A table sideways in front of one of the bunk ends is/was fairly common, but usually the tables arent much more than abt 48" wide (not king for sure) JMHO
